Title and Review
  On The Beach. 1959.

An excellent film about a post-nuclear war scenario. Massive radiation is gradually moving across the world and killing the few people left. The story centers around the last people left - in Australia, which because of prevailing wind conditions only has about 9 months left.

Stars Gregory Peck as the last surviving American Naval officer. One of the last things the Aussies do (as always, we can admire their spirit) is to stage the last car race of all time - winner take all (and many losers preferring to go out the hard way rather than sit around waiting for a sure and slow death later). Fred Astaire drives a Ferrari in this last race.

A very somber movie indeed - only see it if you are a history buff. We have the film and the book.
